Joining Policy

This Joining Policy is subject to periodic review and updates by the Art2Green Africa Alliance Steering Committee to ensure its continued relevance and alignment with the Alliance’s objectives.

Overview

The Art2Green Africa Alliance is a voluntary, multi-stakeholder initiative aimed at fostering green economy development and transformational change across Africa. This Joining Policy outlines the requirements, responsibilities, and expectations for organizations, institutions, and individuals interested in becoming a part of the Alliance.

Eligibility Criteria

Organizations, institutions, and individuals applying to join the Art2Green Africa Alliance must meet the following criteria:

  • Commitment to Sustainable Development: Demonstrate alignment with the Alliance’s mission to accelerate green economy development, ecosystem conservation, and climate resilience in Africa.
  • Engagement in Green or Social Impact: Be actively involved or willing to engage in projects related to green economy sectors, environmentally sustainability, or social impact initiatives.
  • Support for the AU Green Recovery Action Plan & SDGs: Commit to supporting the African Union Green Recovery Action Plan (2021-2027) and the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 17 (Global Partnerships for Sustainable Development).
  • Adherence to Values and Principles: Agree to uphold the core values of integrity, transparency, collaboration, adaptability, and innovation as outlined in the Alliance’s Partnership Principles.

Application Process

  • Application Submission: Applicants must submit an official application form, providing details about their organization’s activities, projects, and alignment with the goals of the Alliance.
  • Review Process: Applications will be reviewed by the Art2Green Africa Alliance’s Steering Committee to ensure alignment with the Alliance’s mission and values.
  • Verification of Information: The Alliance may request additional information or clarifications from applicants to verify eligibility and suitability for membership.
  • Decision and Notification: Applicants will be notified of their acceptance, deferral, or rejection within 30 days of submitting a complete application.

Responsibilities of Members

Once accepted, all members of the Art2Green Africa Alliance must adhere to the following responsibilities:

  • Uphold Core Values and Principles: Members are expected to maintain the highest standards of integrity, collaboration, and transparency in all activities associated with the Alliance.
  • Active Participation: Members are encouraged to actively engage in Alliance activities, including project collaborations, knowledge sharing, and attending key events.
  • Reporting and Accountability: Members must submit annual reports on their green initiatives and progress towards shared objectives to contribute to the Alliance’s impact measurement.
  • Maintain Accurate Information: Members must ensure that all provided information remains up-to-date and accurate. Any changes to the organization’s status or projects must be reported promptly to the Alliance.
  • Avoid Conflicts of Interest: Members must disclose any conflicts of interest and refrain from actions that could undermine the goals of the Alliance.

Grounds for Delisting

Members may be removed from the Art2Green Africa Alliance if:

  • Non-Compliance: They fail to uphold the core values, principles, and responsibilities outlined in this Joining Policy.
  • Inactive Participation: They consistently fail to engage in Alliance activities, contribute to initiatives, or communicate with the Alliance for over 12 months.
  • Misrepresentation: They are found to have provided false or misleading information during the application process or in subsequent communications with the Alliance.
  • Unethical Behaviour: They engage in unethical practices or behaviours that harm the reputation or mission of the Alliance.

Re-Application Process

Organizations or individuals who have been delisted may reapply after a minimum period of one year, provided they can demonstrate that they have addressed the issues that led to their removal.

Code of Conduct

All members of the Art2Green Africa Alliance are expected to:

  • Promote ethical behaviour, environmental sustainability, and respect for human rights.
  • Foster a collaborative environment free from discrimination, harassment, or any form of exploitation.
  • Respect the diversity of perspectives.

Confidentiality and Data Use

All personal and organizational data submitted during the application process will be handled with confidentiality and used solely for the purposes of evaluating the application and facilitating Alliance activities. Members agree that their contact information may be used by the Alliance to communicate updates, events, and partnership opportunities.
