January 8, 2026Our Partnership Mandate
To accelerate the implementation of the African Union Green Recovery Action Plan (2021–2027) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), driving green economy development, ecosystem conservation, and strategic action across Africa, the initiative will leverage the OnePAGE Framework to mobilize multi-stakeholder collaboration and innovative solutions for sustainable growth.
The Alliance is anchored in the SDG 17 framework, which aims to “strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development,” and promotes a platform to advance six of the nineteen critical targets of SDG 17;
Target 17.1:
Strengthen domestic resource mobilization, including through international support to developing countries, to improve domestic capacity for tax and other revenue collection.
Target 17.3:
Strengthen domestic resource mobilization, including through international support to developing countries, to improve domestic capacity for tax and other revenue collection.
Target 17.5:
Adopt and implement investment promotion regimes for least developed countries.
Target 17.14:
Enhance policy coherence for sustainable development.
Target 17.16:
Enhance the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development, complemented by multi-stakeholder partnerships that mobilize and share knowledge, expertise, technology, and financial resources, to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in all countries, particularly developing countries.
Target 17.17:
Encourage and promote effective public, public-private, and civil society partnerships, building on the experience and resourcing strategies of partnerships.
Our Partnership Mandate
These principles create a foundation for meaningful and sustainable collaboration, ensuring that the Alliance’s work is impactful, resilient, and adaptable to the evolving landscape of green economy development in Africa.
Integrity and Interdependence
Partnerships are built on trust and respect for each other’s contributions. Each actor in the Alliance acknowledges their dependence on others for success, thereby promoting a deep sense of mutual accountability and responsibility.
Complementarity and Mutual Benefit
Partners collaborate by complementing each other’s capabilities, ensuring equitable value sharing. The objective is to achieve more collectively than any stakeholder could individually, ensuring that outcomes are mutually beneficial.
Dynamism of Development
Acknowledging the fast-paced evolution of development needs, partners commit to flexibility in strategy, allowing for rapid adaptation to shifts in socio-economic, environmental, and political landscapes across Africa.
Adaptability
Recognizing that Africa is not monolithic, partners adopt flexible approaches, ensuring solutions are tailored to the specific economic, ecological, and social contexts of each region and community.
Transparency
Openness in decision-making, reporting, and resource allocation ensures that all partners are aware of processes and progress. Transparency builds trust and accountability, helping to prevent miscommunication and fostering confidence among all stakeholders.
Co-Evolution
Partners recognize that change is a continuous, evolving process. The partnership fosters co-creation of solutions, where learning from each other is paramount, and success is viewed as an ongoing journey rather than a static achievement.
Self-Organization and Self-Learning
The Alliance promotes decentralization enabling communities and local actors to self-organize around the challenges they face, while sharing lessons and strategies for improvement across the network.
Heterogeneity and Duplication of Relationships
The diversity of partners ensures a range of solutions are tested and implemented across different sectors and regions. Duplication of relationships is a key pillar in building a resilient, adaptive, and sustainable partnership ecosystem. By ensuring that multiple stakeholders are working towards similar goals through diverse pathways, the Alliance creates a robust and flexible network capable of achieving long-term transformational change.
Collaborative Innovation Culture
Innovation lies at the core of this Alliance. Partners are committed to sharing knowledge, experimentation, and research to generate novel solutions, ensuring that they challenge existing paradigms and think beyond traditional development models.
